so last year i set the following goals for 2011:
1) to be a healthier person
2) to make my house a home
3) to start a savings account, contribute to it regularly and not touch it
4) to make a (probably small) quilt
5) to blog once a week
and then i turned my life upside down. so, let’s see how i did.
1) to be a healthier person- i kept my weight the same pretty much all year, that is until the holidays. where i decided to start drinking soda with my cocktails and eat like i had never had a weight issue. that worked out well for me, i mean, if you consider gaining around 10 pounds a job well done.
2) to make my house a home- well…we didn’t make that house a home, but we did BUY a home and have been working hard to make it ours. so, i will count that goal as accomplished. i am sure you will see more home related goals in the months to come, as we are all ready making our spring cleaning/fix-up dream list.
3) to start a savings account, contribute to it regularly and not touch it- well, i quit my job in april and then we bought a house, moved and got married. we are not currently in debt, but that savings goal went by the wayside. this is a goal for 2012. we are getting too old to not have a well prepared emergency fund.
4) to make a (probably small) quilt- this didn’t happen. at all. and i am not sure if it is on my list for this year.
5) to blog once a week- well….i didn’t necessarily blog ONCE a week, but i did say that at the end of the year i wanted to have at least 52 posts and i ended up with 21 on the old blog and 176 on ahoy!. with a grand total of 197 post i get a big gold star!
so what about next year…
1) to be a healthier person- so even though i know that being a healthier person will always be a goal, this year i will get down to the goal weight that i never attained of 146 and i will maintain this weight THROUGH OUT THE ENTIRE YEAR.what mini-goals have i set to help me along?
- i have about 15 pounds to lose. i will give myself 20 weeks to accomplish this goal (healthy, sustainable weight loss is .5-2 pounds per week). so for the sake of easy to remember dates, i will be to my goal weight by may 1, 2012.
- by the end of febuary i will be down 10 pounds. i will accomplish this goal by following my weight watchers eating plan, exercising and meal planning. bryce also has weight loss goals this year, so it will be nice to be going through this with him.
- we have set a rule for january that we are only allowed to eat out for one meal per week. we have done some variation of this for the past few years. it is an easy way to make sure you eat well and a nice bump for your bank account after the holidays.
- i will be setting monthly fitness/food goals
2) to set monthly goals- this year i learned that life changes fast and what i want in january may not be fitting for what i want in july. so here are the january goals:
- only eat out once a week
- track daily on Weight Watchers
- take all dry cleaning in
- take all alteration/repairs in
- exercise 45 min per day
3) keep blogging at least one a week, outside of anyday- i have some ideas i am tossing around in my head that i will nail down soon, anyday will keep going strong and i think we will welcome a few more people to the ahoy! family.
4) to challenge myself to stay positive in any and every way possible
there are lots of other goals in my life and in bryce and i’s life as a couple, but these are MINE ALL MINE 🙂
what about you?
