i walked into a pole today

i was walking back from getting coffee (which i apparently needed more than i knew) and i turned to look into my bosses office to see if she was off the phone so i could tell her thanks for the lunch recommendation and

WHAM!

i ran into a pole. i basically shoulder checked it, but it was pretty loud. of course i immediately busted out laughing and asked if anyone else had seen it. no one had, but one girl heard it and i was glad to have someone to laugh with.

at the j.o.b. we don’t have cubes. just open spaces with long rows of desks. i didn’t know if i would like it, but i really do. it forces you to know your neighbors. you are more likely to talk to them. when you are laughing your ass off at a youtube video, they want to know what you are watching. you can ask for help and collaborate with ease. and everyone has an equal opportunity of seeing me walk into a pole. this is one of many things that i really enjoy about this unique work space.

the other great thing is that i am making friends at work. so when i walked into the pole, not only was i able to sit down and IM someone in another part of the office and share the hilarity, she was then questioned by another coworker about laughing out loud (i just can’t say lol-ing. it is weird) at her computer and they cruised by my desk to give me shit about it! i love getting/giving people shit at work! and in both their defenses, they asked if i was okay before laughing at/with me.

not too shabby…
