birthday budget

so  b’s birthday is coming up next week. the big 28. every year prior to this i have gotten him a knife from new west knife works. the knives are awesome, but i think he has all he needs. he mentioned wanting a cleaver, but we really have no use for one…seeing as how we don’t eat much meat…let alone meat that needs cleaving. we also don’t have a cutting board or counter top that could stand up to it. so where does that leave me? scrambling!

before i had thought of getting him a watch, but he scooped on up on one of his favorite outdoorstuff sale website thingys. he also mentioned wanting a cuckoo clock, but kel and brad were awesome enough to get us one for our wedding. i have a few things in mind, but have been hesitant to pull the trigger.

why? because i feel like i am buying him presents with is own money. i also know what our financial goals are and don’t want to mess with them either. this is the first time that i have to really try to get myself to go from thinking HIS money to OUR money. this is extremely weird for me. of course when i bring it up to him he is totally laid back about it and doesn’t care. but that doesn’t necessarily make me feel any better. i guess this problem in thinking also explains why i haven’t shopped hardly at all since april, unless it was for the wedding. and even then i was more reserved with the spending than he was.

oh, woe is me. first world problems, for real, but still….i guess you will have to wait until next week to see how this works out.
