shaun and dusty got in on saturday and we have had quite a lovely time. the GREAT news is that they don’t have to leave until tomorrow evening. on saturday we relaxed and then went to a lovely dinner at devito’s in eureka springs. they only have reservations for groups over 5, but in my opinion their alfredo sauce is worth the wait. they also have phenomenal trout dishes. after we were all stuffed to the brink of discomfort we headed back to the house, where we drank a little wine and enjoyed the quiet. yesterday we made breakfast while we watched a tree man take down the dead tree that was growing through our deck. this guy is a caricature of arkansas. super nice, bum leg, not sure when he had his last shower, southern draw and a big ol’ dip in at all times. it was crazy to watch him bring that tree down. now we have half a tree in our ravine and a big stump sticking out of the deck. b thinks i should take up chain-saw art and carve us a totem pole. i think he is nuts.what i will use the tree for is our centerpieces, but we will get to that soon enough. then we went out on the lake for a while. came back. cleaned up. and my mom and dad joined us for dinner and to bring us bar stools and a mini-fridge (yeah, they pretty much rock). i made the spinach and black bean enchiladas but this time i made it as a casserole. it was good! then we retired to the deck again to sit in silence and relax. we all fell asleep at one point. it is just so peaceful.
today i get to do something i have wanted to do for a while. flea markets! they are all up and down the highway i live off of and they look tragically amazing. you know in all that crap there has got to be some gems! what are we on the hunt for? maybe some wedding crap, but more than anything just a new, fun experience. we also are going to go to the scenic overlook on the way back from eureka. dusty has stopped before, but i never have and shaun hasn’t see it either. she promises it won’t disappoint. i believe her.
