freekin’ weekend

this is the first week that i feel like i really deserve a weekend. it is also the first week that i haven’t treated everyday like it was saturday night. we have now been in the house for 5 days and all ready it is starting to feel like home. leaky shower and all.

two of our very bestest friends are coming down this weekend and i can’t wait to see them! we got a fridge yesterday. a fancy, french door, stainless steel samsung. we had to take the handles off it and take our front door off the hinges to get it in the house. and today i get to fill that beast up! i can’t wait to cook! (college me just died from shock)

also, today we are setting up our bed, bringing in our sofa and hopefully getting the tv and xbox set up so i can kick christina’s ass in dance central on the kinect. this means i need to finish cleaning my kitchen. and clean the living room floor. oh, and find all my silverware, pots, pans and the french press. AND clean the guestroom shower. urg. we were just going to all use the master shower, but since it is now a waterfall into the downstairs, we will have to go with plan B. which is cleaning a super nasty shower and buying a shower curtain.

speaking of the waterfall,  b cut a hole in the ceiling this morning. i turned on the water, which then came out of the ceiling in a steady stream. i am so helpful.  mr. fixit just informed me that it seems that a pipe froze and burst. and that he and his dad should be able to fix it fairly easily. he gave me more info, but that is all i processed. and then i thanked the universe that he knows what the hell he is doing. makes me much less nervous about being a home owner. now, ask me how i feel if the shower is still out of commission in 3 weeks.

our home is a foreclosure, so perhaps that will lend some insight into some of the issues you will see us come across. this house was winterized in november of 2009, so it sat empty for at least two years. that is why it is so gross. we had the carpets steamed yesterday and they look better, but in some places they are just so beat up. at least now we know they are clean, or as clean as they can be. so now we can start moving things into the rooms they belong in, and just leave space for the cleaning ladies to get to the walls and base boards. after it is cleaned thursday, it will be game on!

the bad news? we can’t get internet at our house. so i am tethered right now, but this isn’t a long term solution. we are pretty bummed, as we prefer hulu plus and netflix over cable. so, more to come on that.

in totally random information, we have 113 outlets inside of our house. this seems totally out of control to me. also, i think you can turn every light on/off from at least two different switches.

pretty intense…

so what is on the agenda for next week? talking paint colors,  making wedding invites, the start of p90x and hopefully some happiness project chat. i think i am ready to set my first goals….
