last saturday was my birthday.
i spent the day with some of my best friends, eating bacon and gardening in the mist. after defrosting a beer fridge, i headed home to get ready. after trying on 4 shirts i went with my favorite gray t-shirt and headed out.
my friends are the kindest, sweetest, most caring people in the world (hey family!! you are my friends too). nick stayed up until 2am smoking meat, dusty and shaun pulled some kind of crazy overnighter to master the most amazing doughnuts i have put in my mouth. shaun’s sangria gave la bodega a run for their money. papa’s papas and their two sticks of butter were soul food heaven. there were steamed artichokes from jill and todd’s jello shots made a repeat appearance. the spread was to die for. and nick and christina are always wonderful hosts.
on top of food and drinks and time, i got gifts. something i was not expecting, but loved!! yesterday while antiquing a friend mentioned that she misses gift giving between friends. and i agree. there is no feeling like getting or giving the perfect gift. and i got so many!

look at this beautiful vase sarah found for me at the antique mall. i LOVE the colors. and the roses from her garden that filled the vase were prefect. thank you pumpkin. i can’t wait to give it a home! talk about some color inspiration!
amanda gave me the urban decay NAKED eye shadow pallet. this girl KNOWS her eyeshadow and her friend too! i used this the whole time i was in brooklyn and was all ready looking forward to getting my own. girl read my mind! thanks moo. you know i love it!
jessica told me she spent hours looking for the right gift. this in and of it’s self was sweet enough. i wish i would have taken a picture of her adorable wrapping job, complete with a silk flower. it is the sweetest little “T”. she said she was looking for a B, for my upcoming name change, but i adore the T. it is a tiny type set block. it is so delicate. i haven’t taken it off since!
speaking of color inspiration…timmy gave me this flower painting of his, which i was in love with immediately. look at the colors. how can you not love it? it will brighten up any room and any day. i have serveral pieces of tim’s work, but i think this is my favorite. thank you friend. handmade gifts are extra special.
on top of all this several other friends went in and got me a visa gift card!! thank you jill, brandon, brad, kelly, jessica, chris, nick, christina, shaun, dusty, eric (crap, did i forget someone?!)
who are these people?
oh that’s right, they are my AMAZING URBAN FAMILY!!!!
thank you all. for the food, the drinks, the gifts, but most of all for your love.
you sure know how to make a birthday girl feel special!
